Featured Charity
Harper Grey LLP partner, Abigail Turner, is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise.
The Club forms part of Rotary International, which fosters the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise. In particular, Rotary encourages:
1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
2. High ethical standards in business and professions and the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations as an opportunity to serve society;
3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life and;
4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideals of service.
Abigail's club works on both local and international projects. They have sent volunteers, funds and materials to impoverished villages in South Africa to build and equip nursery schools and kindergartens and assist the International push to eradicate polio. Locally, the Club raised funds for the Strathcona Community After-School Basketball Program and they sponsor and arrange the West End Senior Network's annual Christmas luncheon, serving lunch for over two hundred seniors living in Vancouver. The Club also sponsors educational opportunities, mentoring and University scholarships to local youth and to a local inner city high school.

Harper Grey LLP Community Involvement
Harper Grey LLP has a longstanding tradition of volunteer work and charitable contributions. Giving back to our community and making a tangible difference is a large part of who we are.
We support numerous non-profit associations, sports, health and legal organizations in Vancouver and throughout Canada — through corporate or personal sponsorship, providing pro bono services, or dedicating our own personal time.
For example, the firm gathers each spring for an in-house auction. Lawyers and staff generously donate items (including private plane rides, weekend getaways and sponsorship of charitable programs) to be bid upon. To date, the auctions have raised over $100,000 for charity.
Education:
- University of British Columbia: our lawyers serve as adjunct professors and guest lecturers in the faculties of law, engineering and medicine. We also provide pro-bono services as supervisors to the Law Students Legal Advice Program and make several scholarships and awards available to law students. Harper Grey is a member of UBC’s Chancellors Circle, which recognizes large-scale and long-term donors.
- University of Victoria: scholarships, awards and sponsorship of law student events.
- Capilano University: sponsorship of alumni celebrations. Members of Capilano’s “President’s Circle.”
- Professional Legal Training Course: guest lecturers for the provincial bar admission course
- Continuing Legal Education: board members, conference chairs, authors and lecturers to the organization dedicated to professional excellence among lawyers and support staff.
- Continuing Medical Education: lecturers for provincial and national programs covering medicine and the law.
- Canadian Bar Association: leaders and members of specialty sub-groups in areas such as health, insurance, commercial litigation and enviromental law

Community Involvement:
Harper Grey LLP lawyers and staff members coach numerous childrens sport teams. Some of us also serve as Beaver and Scout leaders and are involved in public and private schools. We regularly field teams of walkers, bicyclists, and runners to raise funds for charitable organisations. Our staff social committee also hosts numerous fund-raising events throughout the year to support small local non-profit groups.
