Biography

Julie Gibson practises in the professional regulation and health law groups at Harper Grey.  She has appeared in the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the British Columbia Supreme Court, as well as before a variety of administrative tribunals.

During her undergraduate studies, Julie worked in Toronto and North Carolina on medical research focusing on cystic fibrosis. She also worked on cardiovascular disease and nutritional sciences research projects at the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto).

Client Work

Professional Regulation & Health Law

  • Representing professionals before their governing bodies in a wide variety of regulatory matters including allegations of sexual misconduct, improper prescribing, breach of confidentiality and incompetence
  • Providing policy advice to professionals and organizations on legislative and regulatory compliance, including the scope of and proposed amendments to the BC Health Professions Act
  • Acting as counsel before the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the BC College of Teachers, university-based tribunals and other administrative law decision makers
  • Acting as counsel in civil litigation matters, including the successful defence of professional negligence allegations
