Biography

Katherine Tinmouth is an associate with Harper Grey LLP practicing in our family and insurance law groups. Katherine practiced at Cox & Palmer in Halifax, Nova Scotia for two years after law school.

Katherine grew up skiing and hiking in Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. She spent ten years working her way east across Canada and to Scotland, before returning home to British Columbia.

Client Work

Family Law

  • Katherine represents married and common-law spouses to address issues of property division, spousal support, child support, custody and access, whether through negotiating and drafting separation agreements or pursuing remedies through the courts
  • Working on complex, contentious family law cases where there are difficulties in obtaining full financial disclosure and tracing family assets
  • Drafting marriage agreements for people who want to protect their assets and clarify the financial consequences of marriage

Insurance Law

  • Katherine has recently worked on a subrogated matter stemming from a minor flood in a residential home. Four successive contractors worked on the repair project. Recovery was sought against the second and third contractors on behalf of the insurance company and its insured.
  • Handling legal claims resulting from a fire that started in the oven of a restaurant in the ground floor of a condo building and spread to multiple units. The matter involved issues of coverage, liability and quantum.
  • Occupier's liability, slip and fall matters involving commercial or residential property
  • Matters involving faulty excavation of commercial properties
