The phenomenon of leaving large sums to family pets

Harper Grey LLP partner Bill MacRae was quoted in a national newspaper article about the estate of Leona Helmsley. Ms. Helmsley had set up a $12million trust to administer the care of her dog after she passed away.

Mr. MacRae commented on the trend towards setting aside large amounts of money in estates for the purposes of pet care and the complications that may arise.
