Allan Thackray rejoins Harper Grey LLP

Allan Thackray, QCHarper Grey LLP is pleased to announce that the Honourable Allan Thackray Q.C. has returned to the firm as counsel. Mr. Thackray will provide strategic advice and counsel to the firms litigation and health law groups. He will also act as an arbitrator and mediator and as counsel on matters referred to the firm for his advice.

After his call to the British Columbia Bar in 1960 Mr. Thackray was with the Department of External Affairs before joining the firm in 1961. He enjoyed a distinguished career at the Bar over the next 30 years and became recognized as one of British Columbia's pre-eminent counsel. Mr. Thackray was honoured with a Queens Counsel designation in 1982 and was made a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

In 1990 Mr. Thackray was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. In 2001 he was appointed to the British Columbia Court of Appeal. He served in that court with distinction until his retirement in October 2007.

Mr. Thackray has generously and regularly contributed to the education of lawyers and physicians in British Columbia. As a practicing lawyer he had a long association with the Canadian Medical Protective Association, for whom he was counsel in British Columbia prior to his appointment to the Bench.
