Andrew Brine joined Harper Grey in 2009, after practicing law in London, England for two years. While in London, Andrew worked as a solicitor in a large firm advising international clients in the shipping, sale of goods and commodities trading sectors.
After graduating from the University of Alberta Law School in 2004, Andrew articled and worked with a local Vancouver firm. He now practices with the health and insurance law groups here at Harper Grey.
Representative Client Work
- Defence of medical negligence claims, including witness preparation, argument drafting, preparing direct and cross examinations, attending preliminary hearings and trials.
- Primary lawyer in a successful high profile, multi-million dollar arbitration dealing with implied terms and construction of a charter party contract, with appearances in the English High Court of Justice and Court of Appeal.
- Advising and managing the negotiations for a major commodities and freight trader with respect to their contractual rights and obligations in advance of ordering a cargo vessel to sail through Somalian waters and the Gulf of Aden in light of an increase in pirate attacks.
- Primary lawyer in a nine-party, multi-million dollar dispute arising out of a train derailment in Greater Vancouver, with successful settlement at mediation
- Conduct of a cross-border, multi-million dollar environmental pollution coverage dispute under a Director's and Officers liability insurance contract that involved the Environmental Protection Agency.

Background
Andrew grew up in Burnaby, BC. After spending several years away, he is looking forward to enjoying life on the west coast and spending more time with his family when he is not running, doing triathlons or playing golf.
