Jonathan has a diverse practice which includes advising and assisting clients in professional liability and professional disciplinary matters. He also handles a wide range of matters for insurance clients including liability defence and coverage disputes. As part of his practice, Jonathan has developed significant experience in resolving complex construction disputes.

Jonathan articled with Harper Grey LLP. He co-chairs our Engineering and Construction Law group and is a member of our health law, insurance law and professional regulation practice groups.

Representative Client Work

Construction Law: Jonathan has acted as counsel in many construction deficiency and delay claims including large, complex multi-party proceedings with damages claims ranging from $200,000 to $30 million. He has represented parties involved in all aspects of construction including consultants, developers, engineers, general contractors and construction subtrades.   

Insurance Law: Jonathan represents insurance companies and their insureds in claims brought against them for personal injury and property loss. Jonathan provides coverage advice to insurers on a broad range of issues including misrepresentation, failure to cooperate, intentional and criminal acts, arson and bad faith. Jonathan also defends insurance agents and brokers in professional liability claims.

Health Law: Jonathan provides legal services to physicians and other health care professionals in British Columbia. This includes defending civil actions and matters before the Human Rights Tribunal. Jonathan also represents physicians and other health care professionals in a wide variety of disciplinary matters including allegations of sexual misconduct, breach of confidentiality, improper prescribing of medication and competence issues.

Background

Born and raised in Manitoba. Jonathan is an accomplished musician and continues to sing and play in various bands in the Lower Mainland. He is President of the Board of Directors of the Lookout Emergency Aid Society.
