Natural Resources

Natural resources are dear to British Columbians. Our waters, forests, mountains and open spaces, and all that they hold, are unique to the world. Our province has grown and prospered largely on the basis of these resources. Increasingly, the numerous industries and people who manage our natural resources are having to become stewards of the environment as well.

Environmental law in British Columbia has grown as well in an attempt to address historic environmental damage and prevent harm of this nature in the future. Resource industries are finding it necessary to develop more sophisticated and formal methods of resolving and preventing environmental impacts associated with their businesses.

Harper Grey's Environmental Group focuses on guiding resource companies through the large number of environmental regulations, both old and new, and protecting these companies from liability before and after problems arise. From operations and compliance to commercial transactions and corporate structure, we are well equipped to advise the resource sector on the state of the law and to defend or prosecute legal proceedings. Our depth of experience in environmental litigation has served our clients well in preventing litigation, and is always there when litigation is necessary.
