Sean Foote is an associate with the Insurance Law and Commercial Litigation Groups of Harper Grey.
In his commercial practice, Sean regularly advises clients on disputes arising out of contractual-related issues, unsecured debts, general commercial disputes and private international law. He has a particular focus on the enforcement of American and other judgments in BC under the Court Order Enforcement Act, as well as the Morguard principle. He also assists clients in defending BC businesses and individuals against foreign proceedings and judgments. His commercial clients include national and multi-national companies, small businesses and Trustees.
Sean’s insurance practice is focused on advancing subrogated claims in matters involving property disputes, construction deficiencies, bodily injury claims, and product liability claims. He is the author of two articles on the enforcement of foreign money judgements in BC, which were published in The Washington Bar News and the Oregon Creditor-Debtor Newsletter.
He has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, assisted in matters before the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and various tribunals.
Sean now shares his time between Vancouver and Victoria, and advises clients from across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
Born on Norfolk Island, Sean spent a significant portion of his early years travelling with his family. His sense of adventure and passion for travel led him to study at the University of Sydney, Australia, and two terms he spent studying law in Mexico City.
