Biography

Raj practices primarily in the areas of medical malpractice and insurance litigation. He has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Raj is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Law, instructing in the areas of trial advocacy and health law. He is also a tutor for the UBC Faculty of Medicine "Doctor, Patient & Society" course. Raj is pursuing his Masters of Law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, with a concentration on health law.

  • Representing a client in the Supreme Court of Canada in a matter involving the issue of limitation periods
  • Appearing in the British Columbia Court of Appeal (BCCA) in civil litigation matters involving compromised infants
  • Attending before judge alone and in jury trials at the British Columbia Supreme Court in numerous medical-legal matters
  • Appeared as counsel in a number of BCCA cases which helped to define the test for causation in a medical context, including Seatle and Ahamed
  • Counsel for a physician at the Hughes Inquest, held in Nanaimo, BC in July 2011
