Kim Jakeman appointed Queen’s Counsel

December 2, 2021

We are proud to announce that Kim Jakeman was recently bestowed the honorary title of Queen’s Counsel, or Q.C.

This designation is conferred annually by the BC Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the BC Attorney General, on members of the legal profession to recognize exceptional merit and contribution.

This honor acknowledges Kim’s professional integrity, good character and excellence in the practice of law. As a senior lawyer at Harper Grey, Kim is an exceptionally gifted trial lawyer and is recognized as one of our very best by the judiciary and the bar. She is a leading lawyer in the area of health law and medical negligence, provides counsel to physicians in regulatory matters and is an active mediator. She is also known as the co-founder of the award-winning Life in Law platform providing support, education, and advice to thousands of women lawyers to help stem the flow of women leaving the legal profession. Her advocacy skills, impeccable ethics, positive contributions, impact on the retention of women in law, collegiality, and the high regard in which she is held by her peers make her a most deserving recipient.

“Kim clearly embodies and exemplifies the qualities expected of those bestowed with this designation”, says Managing Partner, Jonathan Meadows. “We are very pleased that she has been recognized in this way for the role she has played as a leader, innovator, mentor, teacher, volunteer and champion of women in the legal profession. From all of us at Harper Grey, congratulations Kim!”
