National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21, 2023

On this National Indigenous Peoples Day, we will be joining many others from across the country to reflect upon the rich cultural heritage and resilience of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island.

Throughout the month of June, our Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Committee (DIBC) presented a weekly mini-series for our firm members to learn about Indigenous Peoples as well as appreciate and acknowledge some of the First Nation communities upon whose territory and unceded lands we work and play. On June 19 the firm gathered to learn about Métis people, their culture, and enjoy traditional and modern performances by V’ni Dansi’s Métis Jiggers and Fiddlers. The firm also enjoyed Métis Bannock from The Bannock Queen and a display of Indigenous art, including Métis and Dene beadwork, ribbon skirts, and reading materials.
