Harper Grey Observes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 27, 2024
September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In observance of this significant day, Harper Grey’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee (DIBC) has arranged for our team members to attend Qwalena: The Wild Woman Who Steals Children, a powerful performance by Dallas Yellowfly of 3 Crows Productions.
The story centers on a girl who is different from others and bullied by her community, while Qwalena, an allegorical figure, symbolizes the Indian Agents who took Indigenous children from their families and placed them in government-funded Residential Schools.
This performance serves as a poignant reminder of the Indian Act and the intergenerational trauma caused by Residential Schools, while fostering anti-racism and building stronger communities through education.
At Harper Grey, we recognize the importance of education and take pride in forming collaborative partnerships with Indigenous communities to support self-determination. We work closely with Indigenous clients and their business partners and are committed to active participation in the path toward Reconciliation.
